The two-day workshop on the “Implementation of the European Gas Network Codes in Greece”, organized by the Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN) in Athens on October 25 and 26, in cooperation with the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) and the National Gas Transmission System Operator (DESFA), has been successfully completed.
During the two-day meeting, the implementation of the capacity allocation mechanism at the interconnection points of the gas transmission system, the balancing of the gas transmission system, the gas transmission pricing methodology, the interoperability issue with the neighboring gas transmission systems, as well as issues regarding access to Revithoussa’s liquefied natural gas installation has been thoroughly discussed.
All participants confirmed the significant progress made in the Greek gas market and found a strong potential for further development. In addition, all actors in the gas market have committed themselves to continue their dialogue on issues related to the forecasts of the European gas market codes and to a series of actions within the framework of their implementation.
The organization of the event had been proposed to the Ministry of Environment and Energy by the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission (DG ENER), whose executives attended also the proceedings. The European Organization for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER), the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSO-G) and companies who are operating or wish to operate in the Greek natural gas market in the future, also participated.
